In the coming days, Britain plans to hand over its "Brimstone" anti-ship missiles to Ukraine.
This was reported by the BBC , citing British Deputy Defense Secretary James Gippi, Ukrinform reported.
He spoke about the new military aid for the Armed Forces during a speech to the local parliament.
Last week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Britain was investigating how to deliver the missiles to Ukraine. In particular, the possibility of installing it in a car is considered. According to Gippi, the experiment was successful and in the coming weeks the weapon will be available to the Armed Forces.
Keep in mind that Brimstone tracking missiles are usually deployed from aircraft. They are designed to defeat both sea and land targets. The range of the missiles of the first model reaches 20 km, and the second modification - up to 60 km.
The UK will deliver high-tech Brimstone missiles to Ukraine in the next few weeks, possibly before May 10. This was announced, speaking on 26 April in Parliament, the British Undersecretary of Defense, James Hippie .
On Monday, speaking in Parliament, Defense Secretary Ben Wallace noted that there is currently no talk of sending the Harpoon anti-ship missile to Ukraine, as the UK only has it in a ship version, or the Brimstone missile. However, according to Hippie, the delivery date has been moved forward.
“When the Minister of Defense made a statement in Parliament yesterday, he mentioned that by 2020 we agreed in principle to develop and sell [to Kyiv] the naval version of the Brimstone missile. Recently, Ukraine requested long-range ground attack missiles, and the government is looking into whether the stock of Brimstone [missiles] can be used for this purpose. But given the speed with which our specialists are working now and the effectiveness of the partnership with manufacturers, I am pleased to report that they have moved this timeline forward,” 365 jours 2 Streaming, 365 jours 2 Streaming VF, The Northman Streaming, The Northman Streaming VF said Hippie.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request for assistance from the leaders of the Donbass republic. After that, the US, European Union, UK and a number of other countries imposed massive sanctions against the Russian Federation and increased arms supplies to the Ukrainian authorities.
Ukraine will receive long-range Brimstone cruise missiles from Britain ahead of schedule, British Undersecretary of Defense James Hippie said April 26 in Parliament.
According to him, Kyiv could receive the missile before May 10.
"I would like to inform the House of Commons that we will be providing Brimstone to Ukraine in the next few weeks, maybe even during the parliamentary recess before the Queen's See Speech," Hippie said.

Recall that the speech from the throne is scheduled for May 10.
Earlier, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said that neither the Harpoon anti-ship missile nor the Brimstone missile could be delivered to Ukraine at this time.
However, Hippie explained, the current condition is the possibility of expediting the delivery.
“When the Minister of Defense made a statement to Parliament yesterday, he mentioned that by 2020 we agreed in principle to develop and sell a naval version of the Brimstone missile. Recently, Ukraine requested long-range missiles to hit ground targets, and the government is studying whether Brimstone from stock can be used for this purpose ... But given the pace of work of our specialists and manufacturing companies, I report that they have brought this deadline getting closer,” said Hippie.
