Why Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Quit Playing Football

After a promising stint playing college football, The Rock quit to pursue a career in wrestling. Why did The Rock give up on his NFL dream?

Before he became a wrestler-turned-actor, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson played professional football - now, with Young Rock season 2 set to follow The Rock's football career, many fans want to know exactly why Johnson quit playing football. As Johnson was born into a wrestling dynasty and became a household name through his role in WWE, it's all too easy to forget that the superstar had a career away from the ring. However, as Young Rock season 2 will undoubtedly show, the end of The Rock's football career was actually brought about by several unfortunate circumstances.

The Rock's career success has brought him a long way from his football career. While he's at the pinnacle of Hollywood's A-list now, Johnson's time playing football wasn't quite as successful (though still very impressive). After attending the University of Miami on a full football scholarship and playing for the Miami Hurricane's national championship team, The Rock signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.

The Rock's time in the Canadian Football League was short-lived, and he was cut just two months into the season. Instead of continuing to pursue a football career, the Rock turned to wrestling, landing himself at the WWE, which prepared The Rock to be an action movie star. Exactly why the Rock's football career ended is a combination of factors, but perhaps the biggest reason was the numerous injuries he sustained as a result of the sport. According to The Rock himself, he sustained a complete shoulder separation (requiring total reconstruction), a torn Achilles heel, and five separate knee surgeries. With so many severe injuries in just a few short years of college football, it's perhaps no wonder that The Rock decided to quit.Chuyen Ma Gan Nhà Full HD1000 Nụ Hôn Full HD1990 Full HDCHÌA KHÓA TRĂM TỶ Full HDPhố Trong Làng Tập 53-54 Full HDJack Reacher Full HDPhát Súng Cuối Cùng Full HDThanh Gươm Diệt Quỷ Phần 2 Tập 11 Full HDEuphoria Saison 2 Episode 6 Vostfr

With The Rock now becoming the superhero Black Adam, it's hard to think of him as anything less than superhuman, but some of his old teammates weren't overly impressed with his football talent. Former NFL superstar Warren Sapp played with Johnson for a period of years, and has described his football talent as "six-out-of-ten". However, Leon Searcy (also a 10-year veteran of the NFL) thought that The Rock was better than Sapp's rating, but that he instead wasn't able to shine due to the level of talent around him.

Johnson's former coach Ed Orgeron is full of praise for Johnson, though, describing him as "a hard worker and a humble young man", adding that "Everybody liked him. He was easily coachable and everybody was impressed with him". Although recently, The Rock has found his perfect superhero role in Black Adam, he's been through a few career shifts to get there. While The Rock's football career was short-lived, it wasn't entirely unsuccessful, and walking away from the sport was undoubtedly one of the best decisions Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson ever made. That said, there's no doubt that walking away wasn't entirely his own decision, given his difficulties with injuries.
